Tartans' Lisa Murphy Honored as D3hoops.com All-American

Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team added another All-America honor to her resume when D3hoops.com announced its 19th annual women's basketball All-America team on Wednesday, March 23. Murphy is the first Carnegie Mellon women's basketball player to receive All-America honors as the D3hoops.com recognition joins her Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) award received on March 18.

During the season, Murphy was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week six times. She closed the year with a school season record scoring average of 23.5 points per game while shooting an NCAA Division III record 75.2 percent. She also finished with 10.7 rebounds a game to record her second straight season with an average of more than 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The junior set another NCAA record during the season when she made 16 consecutive field goals against La Roche College on November 30. In that game, Murphy finished 16-for-16 from the floor with five free throws to record a career-high 37 points.

In the Tartans' NCAA second round win against Ohio Northern University, Murphy became the all-time scoring leader in Carnegie Mellon women's basketball history and now has 1,625 points.

The Tartans finished the year with a 21-7 record, tying the school record for wins in a season. They also won two NCAA games for the first time in program history, finishing as one of the top 16 teams in the country.
