Yellowjackets Complete Weekend Sweep With Win Over Chicago

The #13 ranked University of Rochester's women's basketball teams finished off the weekend with a 75-64 win of the University of Chicago this afternoon at the Louis Alexander Palestra.

The Yellowjackets improve to 17-3 overall and 7-2 in the UAA. The Maroons fall to 12-8 overall and 4-5 in the UAA.

Kayla Kibling led Rochester with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Kibling shot 5-8 from the field and 2-3 from behind the arc. Al Leslie finished with a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, with *9 of her points coming at the free throw line. Kelsey Hurley added 9 points, shotting 4 for 6 from the field, with two three-pointers.

Rochester led by 25 heading into the 4th quarter, when Chicago roared back and went on a 29 to 15 run to end the game. During the 4th quarter, the Maroons went on a 23 to 6 run to cut the UR lead to just 9. However, free throws helped UR to maintain their lead and finish the game 25-33 from the line in the game.

Elizabeth Nye led the way for Chicago finishing with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Olariche Obi added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals for the Maroon's.

Rochester's defense through the first three quarters turned out to be the difference in the game. The Yellowjackets held Chicago to just 35 points through three quarters. Chicago shot only 13.3% from three point and range and 50% from the free throw line in the game.

Overall, Rochester had a season's high 28 turnovers Chicago at 14 steals, five by Katie Anderson. The Maroon's scored 23 points off Rochester turnovers.
