The Brandeis University women's basketball team never trailed, racing out to a 20-5 first-quarter lead, as the Judges closed out their first-semester schedule with a 74-47 road non-conference victory over Gordon College. The Judges improve to 6-3 on the season, while the Fighting Scots fall to 3-6.

Brandeis scored the game's first seven points and held Gordon to 2-of-16 shooting in the first period to take their big lead. Gordon's Meghan Foley hit a 3-pointer with 5:49 to go in the first to make it an 11-5 edge for the Judges, who would score the final nine points of the stanza by shooting 47 percent from the floor.

Gordon cut into the lead by outscoring Brandeis 15-11 in the second quarter to get within 31-20 at the break, but the Judges had another big run to end the third. The Scots were still within 11 at 39-28 with 4:26 to go in the third, but Brandeis senior Paris Hodges (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) scored the final 11 points of the stanza by herself, giving the visitors a 52-28 lead after 30 minutes. The Judges closed things out by edging Gordon, 22-19, in the fourth for the 27-point win.

Senior center Maria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) led the Judges in scoring with 16 points, tied for game-high honors. Eight of her 16 points came in Brandeis's big first quarter. Paris Hodges' big third quarter propelled her to 15 points for the game, while also pulling down a team-high seven rebounds and grabbing a career-best five steals, three in the third quarter alone. Eleven other Brandeis players registered points, including seven points and seven boards by rookie Hannah Nicholson (Sunderland, Vt./Burr and Burton Academy) off the bench.

Gordon was paced by Foley, who matched Jackson with 16 points and Hodges and Nicholson with seven rebounds. Jess Ryan added 11 points for the Scots, while Olivia Start had five assists to lead all players. Brandeis held the hosts to 26% shooting (18-69), while connecting on 43% (27-63).
