Senior Shellie Kaniut led a trio of Emory double-figure scorers with a game-high 19 points in leading the Eagles' women's basketball team to a Tuesday evening win at LaGrange College. Emory raised its record to 4-0 following an 83-51 triumph over the Panthers who slipped suffered their first defeat in four outings.

Emory concluded the night shooting 48.4 percent (30 of 62) from the floor compared to LaGrange's effort of 34 percent (17 of 50). The Eagles enjoyed a decided 45-31 edge in rebounding and were topped in that category by sophomore Ashley Oldshue and freshman Erin Lindahl, both of who grabbed seven boards. Emory forced LaGrange into 23 turnovers and its 17 steals helped it to a 27-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

Kaniut was successful on seven-of-16 field goal opportunities and four-of-five from the stripe in registering her third straight double-figure scoring performance. Oldshue and Lindahl rounded out the double-digit producers with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Lindahl led a balanced Emory first-half scoring attack with nine points and Oldshue added eight in helping stake the Eagles to a 36-20 lead at the break. Emory's play on the defensive end of the floor and on the glass was key over the first two stanzas, holding the Panthers to just 25 percent (6 of 24) from the field, while posting a 26-15 edge in rebounding. Emory led by a 12-5 count midway through the first quarter before closing out the stanza with an 8-0 run, the final four coming by senior Michelle Bevan.

The Eagles kept the pressure on the Panthers in the third quarter with a 33-14 scoring edge that put them up 69-34 heading into the final stanza. Kaniut led the scoring barrage with 14 points while Oldshue contributed six points.
