Nancy Fahey of Washington University to be Inducted into St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame

Washington University in St. Louis head women's basketball coach Nancy Fahey will be among 12 individuals inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2016. 

The St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame's Annual Enshrinement Dinner will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac Hotel. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

As a member of the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame's eighth class, Fahey will be honored along with the following: Lori Chalupny, Bill DeWitt III, Conrad Dobler, Don Droege, Ernie Hays, Al Hrabosky, Larry Hughes, Jason Isringhausen, Denny Long, Mike Liut, Glenn Shott, Lee Smith, Bob Shannon, Leon Spinks, Michael Spinks and Linda Wells. In addition, the Kutis Amateur Basketball Team will be presented with the Champions Award.

Already a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, WashU Sports Hall of Fame and Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, Fahey enters her 31stseason at WashU with a 711-130 (.845 winning percentage) overall record. She is the only coach in NCAA Division III history to win five national championships, including a stretch of four consecutive titles from 1998-2001.

Fahey has also led WashU to a Division III-record 10 Final Four appearances and 22 University Athletic Association (UAA) titles. During the 2015-16 season, she became the second-fastest coach in NCAA men's and women's basketball history to reach 700 wins, doing so in her 826th game.

Fahey joins WashU men's basketball coach Mark Edwards, former Director of Athletics John Schael, former volleyball coach Teri Clemens, former baseball coach Ric Lessmann and women's golf coach Ellen Port as members of the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame.
