Violets Run Past Mt. St. Vincent

From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's basketball team rolled past the College of Mount Saint Vincent 71-54 on Wednesday, November 23, in Riverdale, NY.

NYU improved to 4-0 on the season with the victory, while the host Dolphins' overall record now stands at 1-3.

Lauren Brown came off the bench to score six first-quarter points and help the Violets race out to a 20-9 lead through one frame. The talented freshman added 10 more points in the second quarter as NYU took a 36-26 lead into halftime.

"I like bringing in Lauren off the bench because it gives her the opportunity to watch the game and see things before she gets out on the court and plays," said NYU Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory. "She has such a unique skill set that you don't often see at this level."

Shaye McGoey and Amy Harioka helped the Violets double their lead to 20 through three quarters. The duo combined for 13 third-quarter points to help push NYU to a comfortable lead and put the game away.

"We came out in the third quarter and started doing betters in areas that we can control like effort, energy and focus," added Hall-Gregory. "That wasn't all there in the first half and a lot of credit goes to Mount Saint Vincent for their play."
