From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's golf team earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship with a tournament title over the weekend.

NYU's winning score was a total of 644. Second place St. Lawrence University trailed the Violets with its overall score of 659.

Freshman Jenni Bluetling took the individual title with an overall score of 155 after shooting 75-80 over the two rounds.

"It was really back-and-forth with Jenni and the St. Lawrence golfer (Claire O'Neil-156) for a while," said Assistant Coach Meaghan Kenny. "But. Jenni was able to pull through. She birdied some huge holes on 15 and 16 to susain that first-place spot. She really put up a great effort."

Freshmen Catherina Li, Kristin Lee and sophomore Alyssa Poentis all tied for fifth place (163) after shooting 77, 82 and 83, respectively, on Sunday.

The other Violet competing, junior Mikaela Santos, found herself in a tie for 10th place.

"We're looking good," Kenny stated when referencing the upcoming NCAA Championship. "We recognize that course. We have some time before we have to compete, so we can get some extra practice in. I am confident that we will be putting on a show in Texas."
