NYU Completes Third Round at NCAA Golf Championship

From NYU Athletics

The New York University women's golf team completed the third round of the NCAA DIII Golf Championship on Thursday, May 12. The four-day tournament is being held Tuesday-Friday, May 10-13, at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Harris County-Houston Sports Authority are serving as the tournament co-hosts.

The Violets left the course in 13th place with an overall score of 970. Nine teams were still on the 5,869 yard, par-72 course when NYU wrapped up.

Catherina Li posted the low score of the day for NYU, recording a four-over-par 76. She was closely followed by teammate Kristin Lee, who shot a five-over-par 77 in round three.

"We had an OK day out there today," said Head Coach Todd Kolean. "A couple of our good players didn't have their best day, but Catherina finally got going and Kristin was rock-solid all day. If it wasn't for one or two bad holes, both of them would've posted unbelievable scores."

Alyssa Poentis leads the Violets on the individual leaderboard with an overall score of 238 through three rounds. Jenni Bluetling and Li both sit a few strokes back of Poentis at 244, while Lee has posted a 245.

"We definitely feel like we can catch a few teams tomorrow if we put four good scores on the board," concluded Kolean.

The Violets will return to the course Friday morning for the fourth and final round of the tournament.
