Alyssa Poentis of NYU Named ECAC Golfer of the Month for October

Alyssa Poentis of the New York University women's golf team was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Golfer of the Month on Thursday, November 5.

Poentis helped NYU to two second-place finishes in the month of October with two top-10 individual finishes of her own, including one top-five showing.

The 2015 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American  began with a team-best finish at the Williams College Invitational from October 10-11. The sophomore shot a two-round score of 156 (77-79) to tie for third place out of 88 golfers and earned Liberty League Performer of the Week honors for her efforts.

Poentis followed that up with a seventh-place finish out of 48 golfers with a two-round 157 (78-79) at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational from October 17-18.

This is the first ECAC honor of the season for Poentis and the third of her career. 

Fall competition for the Violets is now complete. NYU will resume play in the spring with the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship at the Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, FL, from March 12-13.
