The New York University women's golf team finished in second place at the Vassar College Invitational, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, April 8-9, at the Dutchess Country Club in Poughkeepsie, NY.

NYU shot an overall score of 633 (317-316), trailing only first-place Williams College by two strokes (631) in the 12-team competition.

Sophomore Jenni Bluetling led all Violets' scorers through the two-day tournament. The Feldafing, Germany, native totaled 156 (78-78) to place fifth overall. Ithaca College's Kimberley Wong won the tournament with a 152.

Saturday's leader for NYU, junior Kristin Lee, finished in a tie for 10th place by shooting 160 (77-83) over the weekend. Fellow classmate Alyssa Poentis (81-80), along with freshman Arisa Kimura (81-80) and sophomore Patty Treevichaphan (83-78), followed right behind her with scores of 161 to place into a four-way tie for 12th.

"We are a little disappointed," said Assistant Coach Meaghan Kenny. "Patty played really well over the back nine, and so did Jenni. That was nice to see. But If this tournament showed us anything, it showed us what we really need to work on. What this really did was motivate us for the rest of the season."
