The New York University women's golf team placed third at the Williams College Invitational on Sunday, October 2, in Williamstown, MA.

After shooting 308 on Sunday, the Violets finished with an overall score of 626. They trailed Amherst College by one stroke. Host Williams College captured the victory with a final score of 612.

"Today was a much better day as a team," said Assistant Coach Meaghan Kenny. "Five of our six girls scored better than yesterday, and we were able to drop 10 shots off our score. As a coach, that made me very happy."

Junior Alyssa Poentis fell one stroke short of an individual victory, shooting 149 overall and finishing in second. The Honolulu, HI, native shot the second-best score of the day with a 73.

"Alyssa played great today, turning in a 73 and placing second individually," stated Kenny. "Kristin (Lee) was as solid as ever, making great putts throughout the day. Patty (Treevichaphan) dropped seven strokes today, which was also great to see."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Junior Kristin Lee and sophomore Jenni Bluetling tied for seventh posting scores of 157.

- Freshman Ashley Tsoi shot 157 to finish in a four-way tie for 13th.

- Sophomore Patty Treevichaphan finished in 20th (161).

"We're looking forward to the next two weeks of practice and resting up for our home tournament," Kenny said.
