Bears Two Strokes Off Lead After Day One in Georgia

Sophomore Chloe DiPetrillo fired a four-over 76 to lead the Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team to a second place standing after day one of the 14th Annual Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational in Jekyll Island, Ga.

WashU first round score of 316 is two strokes off the leader Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 314 score. The Bears are second in a field of 23 teams competing and hold a two-stroke advantage on the 2017 University Athletic Association Champion, New York University.

DiPetrillo led the field with a three-under par score on the Indian Mound Golf Course par-5 holes. She birdied on three-of-four par-5's and also shot even par on six other holes. DiPetrillo is tied for fourth place with three other individuals.

Freshman Samantha Haubenstock also shot below 80 with a five-over 77 and is tied for eighth. Freshman Angelica Harris finished with an even 80 and is tied for 22nd of 120 golfers.
