Washington University Has Five Named WGCA All-American Scholars

The Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team had five student-athletes named to the 2016-17 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, as announced by the organization Wednesday.

A total of 952 women's collegiate golfers were recognized from NCAA Division I, II and III. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team is a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Senior Jessica Wibawa, junior Erin Drolet, sophomore Hanna Jia, freshman Emily Carnes and freshman Samantha Haubenstock each received the honor for WashU. Wibawa earned the honor four straight years, while Jia picked up her second straight accolade.

The Bears won three tournaments on the year and placed within the top-five in seven of nine tournaments during the 2016-17 season. WashU won the Olivet Labor Day Tee-Off, Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic and the Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational and on the year the Bears posted an average score of 314.65, finishing the season ranked first in the Central Region and 14th in Division III.
