The Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team fired a season-low and first round leading 296 on the opening night of the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Twin Bridges Golf Course.

WashU was led by senior Erin Drolet's career-low two-under par 70, as the Bears starting lineup produced 12 birdies and one eagle. The eight-over par 296 score ties for sixth best in school history.

Following WashU after round one of play are Wittenberg (304), Illinois Wesleyan (308), Marian (312), DePauw (316), Denison (332), North Central (334), Kansas Wesleyan (364) and Millikin (401).

Drolet leads the individual field by one stroke after sinking five birdies while junior Chloe DiPetrillo shot an even 72 for the Bears. DiPetrillo totaled three birdies in addition to sinking the Bears' first eagle of the season.

Sophomore Samantha Haubenstock posted a three-over par 75 while chipping in three birdies. Junior Sabrina Ho found her stride on the back-nine to also finish in the 70s. She concluded the first round with a seven-over par 79 with two birdies and 37 strokes accounted for on the back-nine. 

Rounding out the WashU lineup was freshman Gigi Garcia's 82, as she also contributed two birdies to the Bears total.

Competing individually for the Bears were sophomore Emily Carnes (81), junior Hanna Jia (84) and sophomore Angelica Harris (87).
