The New York University women's golf team headed into Monday's final round of the General's Invitational in second place. But, like two other times already this season, they completed the final round as champions. 

Shooting a combined 297 on Monday, the Violets overtook Carnegie Mellon University and captured the two-day tournament with a final score of 599. Carnegie Mellon placed second (604) and Methodist University finished third (619).

Host Washington and Lee University (622) took fourth place.

"The women were amazing today," said Assistant Coach Eric Tarakjian. "We started the day a few shots back, but the girls really wanted to win."

Arisa Kimura led the charge for NYU, shooting a blistering (and NYU record-tying) three-under-par 69. Her two-round total of even-par 144 gave her the individual title in a field of 11 teams and 65 golfers.   

"Arisa put up a spectacular round today," Tarakjian beamed. "She putted phenomenally all day and looked really comfortable on an unfamiliar course."
  
Patty Treevichaphan finished in a tie for fifth overall (148, 72-76), while Isabel Herrera, playing as an individual, took seventh place (149, 72-77).

Jessica Wu was next up for the Violets, shooting 76 for the second consecutive day and finishing in 12th place. Arshia Mahant (155, 79-76) tied for 16th place.  

Also competing for NYU was Charlotte Kwong (158, 79-79), who tied for 28th place, and Jenni Bluetling (160, 79-81), who finished tied for 33rd.

"I'm really happy with the way we played all weekend long," Tarakjian concluded. "We'll be looking to maintain the momentum into our home tournament next weekend."
