Emory Takes Top Spot at Stith Invitational

The Emory University women's golf team took the top spot at the Max and Susan Stith Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The tournament was played at the 5,600-yard, par-72 Dominion Club Golf Course in Glen Allen, Virginia.

The No. 1 ranked Eagles were tied with No. 9 ranked Methodist University for first place at the end of round one on Monday afternoon, but one of the best outings from freshman Cindy Wang pushed Emory to their fifth tournament win of the year.

On Monday, Wang led the Eagles tallying a 72 after the first round and continued her impressive tournament with a 75 on Tuesday to finish with a 147 placing her in second place individually. Sophomore Sharon Mun followed by one stroke and finished with a 148 (73-75) putting her in third place overall.

Sophomore Ellen Dong put herself in the running finishing with the best tally for the Eagles in the second round. Dong finished the tournament with a 149 (76-73) ending in a tie for fourth place in the tournament.

Junior Irene Wang tied for 16th with her two-round score of 155 (78-77) and freshman Katie Park ended with a 76 in the second round giving her a final score of 160 and finishes in a tie for 36th. Senior Shriya Agarwal, who competed as an individual, rounded out the Eagles at the tournament as she carded a two-round score of 157, which included an impressive round of 74 on Tuesday.
