Mario Palmisano of Chicago Selected to COSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team

University of Chicago wrestler Mario Palmisano was named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District® Men's At-Large First Team on Thursday.

The Academic All-District selections are made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA). First Team Academic All-District football honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, which will be announced on June 9.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution.

Palmisano wrapped up his senior year on the wrestling team with a season record of 20-4 between the 197-pound and 285-pound weight classes. A psychology major, Palmisano was University Athletic Association (UAA) Champion at Heavyweight and placed fourth at the NCAA Midwest Regional. He finished his four-year career with a cumulative record of 73-39 (.652 winning percentage).

Academically, Palmisano also earned 2014-15 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American status and was a UAA All-Academic Team pick in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
