Four members of the New York University wrestling team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships, which will take place Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Seedings and brackets for the event were released on Monday, March 7:
NCAA Championship Brackets
Nathan Pike (133), Raymond Jazikoff (157), John Messenger (174), and William Gockel-Figge (184) all qualified for this weekend's national tournament by placing in the top three of their respective weight classes at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championships.
Pike (28-3), as the top-seeded NYU grappler, was awarded the #2 spot in his weight bracket. The junior is set to face Michael Plesky of St. John's University (MN) in his first bout.
Gockel-Figge (18-2) is seeded #7 in his division and will oppose Austin Cook of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in his opening bout.
Messinger (27-5) and Jazikoff (31-7) are both unseeded. Each grappler finished in third place at the NCAA East Regional Championships. Messinger is set to square off against eighth-seeded Dan Ressler of Roger Williams University in the round of 16, while Jazikoff has a preliminary match against Nicholas Racanelli of Wilkes University.
The double-elimination tournament is set to begin at 11:00 am on Friday, March 10, at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.
