Chicago To Host 2016 UAA Wrestling Championship Saturday

University of Chicago will serve as host of the 2016 UAA Wrestling Championship on Saturday with NYU seeking an Association record-tying fifth consecutive title.

NYU, ranked 21st in Division III, is led by juniors Nathan Pike and William Gockel-Figge. Pike is ranked first at 133 pounds in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Wrestling Rankings, while Gockel-Figge is ranked eighth at 184 pounds. Pike and John Messinger (165 pounds) each earned All-Association honors a year ago.

The host Maroons return All-Association honorees Devan Richter (125) and Nick Ferraro (174). Richter was named 2015 UAA Rookie of the Year and junior Paul Papoutsis (165/174) was named 2014 UAA Rookie of the Year.

Case Western Reserve University senior Nick Lees (174) has won 12 matches this season, including eight by pin with two of those pins coming at the Wheaton (IL) College Pete Willson Invitational. Freshman Brian McNamara (285) topped a nationally ranked opponent at the same event.
