NYU Competes at Ted Reese Invitational

The New York University wrestling team competed at the Ted Reese Invitational on Saturday, December 1. The event was hosted by the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, ME.

NYU scored 104 points at the event to finish fourth among 15 teams. The United States Coast Guard Academy (174.5), Castleton State University (139.5) and Southern Maine (122.5) placed first through third, respectively.

Jack La Corte highlighted the day for NYU, winning the 197-pound title with four victories on Saturday. Two of his wins came by fall and his other two came by decision, including a tight, 3-2 victory over John Wagner of Coast Guard, a returning NCAA qualifier, in the championship match.

La Corte was one of nine NYU grapplers to finish in the top five of their respective weight class. Sean Lyons (157 pounds) and Jackson Kligerman (184 pounds) both fell in their championship bout and earned second place honors. Lyons finished the day 4-1, while Kligerman was 3-1.

Also finishing in the top three were Dylan Dwyer (157 pounds) and Izaake Zuckerman (174 pounds). Both won five of six matches on Saturday.
