Washington University in St. Louis had five student-athletes named to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Women's Soccer Division III All-Central Region Team, as announced Wednesday by the Association.

Senior back Kate Doyle, sophomore goalkeeper Amy French, senior forward Jessica Johnson and junior forward Lillie Toaspern highlighted the honorees by earning first-team accolades. Senior forward Becky Berels was the lone Washington U. selection on the third team.

Doyle picked up all-region honors for the third time in her career after garnering second-team honors in 2011 and honorable-mention accolades a year ago. She started all 22 games in the midfield and in the backfield for Washington U. with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. Doyle was seventh in the UAA in goals scored, and netted the game-winner in a 1-0 win at then No. 7-ranked Emory University Oct. 6. A four-time all-UAA honoree, she started 82 of 86 games played and had 11 goals and 20 assists for 42 points. The 20 assists are tied for 10th in school history.

French had a record-breaking season in 2013 posting a 19-1-1 record with a 0.40 goals against average. She set the single-season school record with 11 shutouts, and tied the school record with 19 wins. French, a second-team all-UAA honoree, led the UAA and was seventh in 
NCAA Division III in goals against average (0.40), while also leading the conference in save percentage (.893) and shutouts (11). She made a career-high nine saves in a 1-0 win at then-No. 7 Emory Oct. 6, and was a four-time UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week honoree.

Johnson started 19 of 21 games played and was fourth on the team with eight goals and nine assists for 25 points. She was second in the UAA in assists (nine), third in points (25) and seventh in goals (eight). Johnson scored a pair of goals in a 7-0 win over DePauw University Sept. 7 and in a 4-2 victory over the University of Rochester Oct. 20. She also had a pair of assists in a 3-1 win vs. No. 19 Calvin College in the NCAA Second Round Nov. 16 and in a 3-0 victory vs. No. 18 University of Puget Sound in the NCAA Sectional Semifinal Nov. 23. A first-team all-UAA honoree, Johnson appeared in 84 career games with 22 goals and 14 assists for 58 points.

Toaspern earned all-Region honors for the third-straight year after picking up second-team honors in 2011 and 2012. She started 21 games for the Bears and led the team and the conference in goals scored (13) and points (34). Toaspern also added eight assists and four game-winning goals, third most in the UAA. She scored the game-winner in a 2-1 win vs. No. 14 Carnegie Mellon University Oct. 12 and had a hat trick in the 3-0 victory over No. 18 Puget Sound in the NCAA Sectional Semifinal Nov. 23. Toaspern had five goals and an assist in four NCAA Tournament games.

Berels had a breakout senior season, scoring seven goals and dishing out a team-best 12 assists for 26 points. She led the conference and was 16th in NCAA Division III with the 12 assists. Berels had multiple assists in three games, and also scored the game-winning goals in a 7-0 win vs. DePauw Sept. 7 and in a 5-2 win over St. Norbert College in the NCAA First Round (11/15). An honorable-mention all-UAA honoree, she appeared in 79 career games with 11 goals and 16 assists for 38 points.

Head coach Jim Conlon guided Washington U. to a school record 20-1-1 overall mark in 2013, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals for the third-straight season and seventh time in school history. The Bears also won their second-consecutive and ninth UAA Championship with a 7-0 record. Washington U. was ranked No. 1 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Top-25 Poll for the second time in school history.
