NYU Improves to 3-0 With Victory Over Widener

From NYU Athletics

Kelli Keady had three goal contributions to lead New York University's women's soccer team over Widener University 4-0 on Friday at the Engineering Cup hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.

The Violets achieved their first 3-0 start to a season since 2019.

NYU's backline held Widener without a shot all night and have yet to allow a goal this season.

Keady got the Violets on the board in the eighth minute with a laser of a shot from outside the box to send the score up 1-0.

The remainder of the first half was scoreless but the Violets were able to get 13 shots off before going into halftime up by one.

NYU came out swinging in the second half scoring three goals in 19 minutes to secure their win. Makenzie Rodrigues and Gabriella Funk scored a goal apiece, both assisted by Keady.

Catie Collins added the cherry on top with the final goal of the match in the 73rd minute, set up by Rachel Kim.

Widener's Samantha Coon made 12 saves during the match out of 16 shots on goal by NYU.
