Fourth NYU Swimming Record Broken at NCAA Championships

New York University's women's swimming & diving team participated in two events during the final heats of the NCAA Division III Championships' second day of competition. The meet is being held Wednesday-Saturday, March 18-21, at the Conroe CISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, TX.

The Violets are currently in seventh place of 36 teams with 76 points. Emory University is in the lead with 323.5 points.

Freshman Serena Yan, sophomore Elise Gibbs, freshman Isabelle Kitze, and senior captainEmily Doerner participated on the sixth-place 200-yard freestyle relay team, posting a team record-breaking time of 1:33.56 and earning All-American honors. The relay team broke its own record of 1:34.12 which it set during the preliminary heats.

"I thought we had a great session tonight, and I was pleased with our results," said Head Coach Trevor Miele.

Doerner also earned All-American honors individually when she placed third overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.92.

"Emily's 100 fly was tremendous," added Miele. "She has worked really hard over the past several years and it's great to see it pay off."
