NYU Breaks Three Pool Records on Day Two of NYU Invitational

New York University's women's swimming team finished ahead of its three opponents at the NYU Invitational, which the squad hosted on Friday and Saturday, November 7-8, at the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) in Manhattan.
 
The Violets finished the quad-meet in first place (1,064). Stevens Institute of Technology followed in second (836), SUNY New Paltz placed third (659) and Arcadia University finished in fourth (277).
 
Elise Gibbs won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.39), breaking the previous record of 1:07.85 that she set earlier this season.
 
HIGHLIGHTS:
 
- Gibbs also participated on the record-breaking 200-yard medley relay team along with Emily DoernerAshley Corley and Serena Yan. The team won the event with a time of 1:48.35, beating the previous record of 1:48.76 which was set earlier this season.
 
- The 800-yard freestyle relay team made up of Gibbs, Allegra IngersonIsabelle Kitze, and Michelle Kierencew won its event with a time of 7:54.85, beating the previous record of 8:13.36 which was set in the 2006-07 season.
 
"I was incredibly impressed with the performance of our team this weekend," Trevor Miele. "Despite a tough week of practice, they were able to get up and race and post some very fast times. I am very encouraged by their progress, and I am looking forward to them posting more fast times in a few weeks at ECAC Championships."
