New York University's women's swimming & diving team defeated Springfield College 177-115 on Saturday, January 16, at the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) in Manhattan.

Sophomore Isabelle Kitze placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.29) and 100-yard butterfly (57.70). She was also a member of a pair of victorious relay teams: the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:36.55), which also included junior Elise Gibbs, freshman Noel Leung, and senior Krista Traub, and the 200-yard medley relay, along with Gibbs, Traub, and freshman May Li.

"I thought we swam really well out there and it was nice to get the win," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are where we need to be at this point in the season."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Leung won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.13, in addition to placing second in the 100-yard freestyle (53.78)

- Freshman Haley Wen took first in both the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.43) and 1,000-yard freestyle (10:28.43)

- In the one-meter diving competition, sophomore Austin Campitelli and junior Ashlie Pankonin took second and third, respectively, totaling 263.32 and 259.51 points. The divers flipped their finishing positions in the three-meter contest, finishing with 253.66 and 249.90 points in that event. Pankonin, who had missed most of the season with injury, recorded a national qualifying score

"It was a solid day for us against a strong team" said Diving Coach Scott Donie.
