The New York University women's swimming & diving team won the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Winter Invitational, which was held Friday-Sunday, December 2-4, in Cambridge, MA.
The Violets accumulated 1,664 points over the course of the meet, topping five other teams. The host Engineers took second place with 1,572 points.
Elise Gibbs won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:18.49, besting her own NYU record of 2:18.88, set last season.
Also joining the Violet record books was Honore Collins, who set a new NYU best in the preliminaries of the 200-yard IM (2:04.90), breaking Rachel Munger's time of 2:07.23, also set last year. Julien Zhu went on to win the event in a time of 2:06.20.
"We had an excellent meet this weekend and I am extremely proud of their performance," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "The team has worked hard from day one and it was great to see them swim so well."
The Violets return to action on Friday, January 13, when they host Johns Hopkins University and MIT for a meet at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan, beginning at 3:00 pm.
