Tartans Finish Third at Kenyon Total Performance Invitational

The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished third at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational after three days of competition.

Junior Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) had the top finish of the night for the Tartans when she finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:06.59. Junior Jocelyn Chan (Hillsborough, Calif. / Menlo School) was fifth in the event in 2:09.11 while freshman Wendy Mo (Great Neck, N.Y. / Great Neck South) was ninth in 2:15.19.

Junior Taylor Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) led off the evening with a ninth-place finish in the 1,650-yard freetyle when she completed the race in an NCCA B cut time of 17:30.48.

Sophomore Jessica Chau (Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood) picked up a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.74 with junior Teagan Goforth(Portland, Ore. / Tualatin) placing 10th in 2:10.67 after swimming 2:07.95 in the preliminaries.

Senior Cassidy Smith (Carlisle, Mass. / Concord-Carlisle Regional) also earned a fifth-place finish Saturday when she touched in 2:25.78 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Junior Victoria Feng (Hopkinton, Mass. / Hopkinton) was close behind in seventh place in 2:26.31.

Junior Mary Day (Warren, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy) had the Tartans top performance in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing 13th in 53.05.

Sophomore Maddie Mianzo (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was the top women's diver on Saturday, placing fourth on the 1-meter board with 403.58 points. Sophomore Lillie Widmayer (Old Bridge N.J. / West Windsor Plainsboro) was fifth with 351.40 points in the finals with junior Megan Roche (Potomac, Md. / Winston Churchill) accumulating 350.85 points for sixth place.

The final event of the night was the 400-yard freestyle which Smith, Day, freshman Stephanie Erickson (Voorheesville, N.Y. / Clayton A. Bouton) and Nicklas-Morris finished in 3:31.46 for fourth place.
