CWRU Defeats NYU 6-3 at UAA Women's Tennis Championship

The No. 21 Case Western Reserve women's tennis team defeated NYU 6-3 in the consolation semifinals at the UAA Women's Tennis Championship.

The fifth-seeded Spartans took two points in doubles play against the eighth-seeded Violets with the No. 2 and No. 3 teams each posting 8-2 victories. Junior Surya Khadilkar (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) and sophomore Sarah Berchuck (Dallas, Texas/Baylor School & Suffield Academy) won at No. 2, while junior Michelle Djohan (Westlake, Ohio/Westlake) and sophomore Jennifer Lowe(Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) earned the victory at No. 3.

Djohan and Khadilkar each earned another point with victories in singles. Djohan won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Khadilkar swept her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 singles. Junior Sara Zargham (Torrance, Calif./California Academy of Math and Science) earned a 6-0, 7-6 (7-0) victory at No. 3 singles.
