Emory University junior Marissa Levine claimed a
victory in the singles 'B' draw, and senior Danielle
Truitt won the 'C' draw, to highlight the Eagles' performance
at the Grizzly Open in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Levine won all five of her singles matches in the 'B' draw,
including a 8-5 win over teammate Anna Fuhr in the final
match of the draw to claim the tournament victory. She
wrapped up her fall campaign with a team-best 10-1 singles record,
including wins in each of her last eight matches.
Truitt failed to drop a set in her five matches of the 'C' draw,
including a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win over Sandra Flores of West Alabama
in the title match of the tournament. She ended the fall with
a 6-1 singles record.
Strong Emory performances in the doubles draw included a finish in
the semifinals by the combination of Fuhr and
sophomore Katarina Su, and a quarterfinals finish for
junior Beatrice Rosen and sophomore Melissa
Goodman.
The Grizzly Open was the final competition of the fall season for
the Eagles. Emory will open its spring campaign on Saturday,
February 7th at the University of Tennessee –
Chattanooga.
