From Emory University Athletics
Four members of the Emory University Women's Tennis Team each
won twice on Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the singles
draw at USTA/ITA South Regional Championships.
On the top half of the draw, freshman Julie
Fowler, the sixth-seeded player, will take on
sophomore Katarina Su, the fifth seed. Fowler advanced
to the semifinals after defeating top-seeded Bronte Goodhue of
Sewanee in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
On the other side of the draw, junior Beatrice Rosen, the
fourth seed, will take on eight-seeded freshman Bridget
Harding.
The singles semifinals are slated for a 9:00 AM start at the
Woodruff Physical Education Center on Sunday morning. They
will be followed by the finals at 12:00 PM.
Doubles action at the tournament was still ongoing at the time of
the release of this article, with three Emory pairings already
reaching the semifinals – top-seeded Michelle
Satterfield and Harding, Michelle DeMeo and Rosen,
and Su and freshman Anna Fuhr. The doubles semifinals
will be held later in the day on Saturday, with the championship
match slated for a 3:00 PM start on Sunday.
