Carmen Lai of the New York University women's tennis team was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 1, after posting a perfect winning record over last weekend.

On Saturday, March 28, Lai paired with Laila El Dessouki to defeat the University of Rochester's top doubles team by a score of 8-1. Lai followed that up with a straight-set (6-1, 6-3) victory in #1 singles.

In the match against William Smith College on Sunday, March 29, Lai helped the Violets to an overall 5-4 victory. She once again won her #1 singles game in straight sets (6-0, 6-2) and took down William Smith's top doubles team 8-2 with El Dessouki.

The NYU junior continued her winning streak with two more victories against the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 1.

It is the first ECAC weekly honor in the Hong Kong native's career. She has also received University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week honors this season.
