From NYU Athletics
The New York University women's tennis team competed at
the College of New Jersey Invitational on Friday, September 12, in
Ewing, NJ.
In their first action of the 2013-14 season, the Violets
edged out TCNJ in singles play, finishing 4-6.
NYU won four out of six Flight A matches, but didn't win any
of their Flight B matches.
"It was a good first day of the season," said Head
Coach Horace Choy. "It was great to
see the newcomers play and we look forward to playing again
tomorrow."
Highlights:
- Newcomer junior Carmen Lai impressed
in her first match as a Violet with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
- After spending the spring semester abroad, Madeline
King won her first match back 6-4, 6-4.
- Newcomer sophomore Laila El
Dessouki won her match 6-4, 7-5.
- Freshman Nicole
Schnabel earned a straight-set win, 6-2,
6-1.
