Emory Debuts at #2 in Initial ITA National Poll

After reaching the NCAA Championship Match for the third consecutive season in the spring and a very strong fall season, the Emory University women's tennis team debuted as the second ranked team in the initial Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings on Tuesday afternoon.

In addition to being ranked second, seven Eagles checked into the top-50 singles rankings. Freshman Taylor Cosme was the highest ranked Eagle at the third position followed by sophomore Bridget Harding (14th), junior Michelle Satterfield (18th), senior Madison Gordon (28th), senior Beatrice Rosen (34th) and junior Melissa Goodman (T-50th). In the doubles rankings, Harding and junior Katarina Su are ranked second followed by Satterfield and sophomore Anna Fuhr at #17.

Emory was also ranked as the top team in the first Atlantic South Regional rankings that also came out on Tuesday. The Eagles also occupied eight of the top 25 singles regional rankings including five of the top nine slots: Cosme (2nd), Harding (3rd), Satterfield (5th), Gordon (7th), Rosen (9th), Goodman (13th), freshman Daniela Lopez(15th) and Su (18th). In the top-10 regional doubles rankings, Harding/Su checked in as the top duo in the region followed by Fuhr/Satterfield (5th) and Gordon/Rosen (8th).

The Eagles open the spring season on February 13th when they face #12 Sewanee and #13 Washington. Overall, Emory will play nine nationally-ranked teams during the spring, including Williams (first), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (fourth), Middlebury (fifth), Bowdoin (eighth), DePauw (14th), Skidmore (16th), Trinity (33rd) and the previously mentioned Sewanee and Wash.
