Yellowjackets Defeat Ithaca, 9-0

With dominant performances in the doubles matches, the University of Rochester women's tennis team posted one of its biggest wins of the season with a 9-0 victory over Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Yellowjackets improved to 4-5 overall and handed Ithaca just its fourth loss in 18 matches (14-4).
 
Alex Wolkoff and Lauren Zickar teamed up for an 8-1 win at second doubles. Christine Ho and Camila Garcia followed with an 8-1 win at #1 doubles. The Ho/Garcia combo is ranked #9 regionally by the ITA. At third doubles, Grace DiGiovanni and Molly Goodman secured an 8-3 win.
 
In all, Rochester had five double winners. Five of the six singles matches were straight-set wins. Wolkoff defeated Shayna Ginster, 6-4, 6-0, at #4 singles to put Rochester ahead, 5-0. Garcia sealed the team victory with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Marni Blumenthal at #2 singles.
 
Goodman defeated Caroline Dunn, 6-2, 7-5, at #3 singles. At first singles, Ho needed a tiebreak in the second set to defeat Haley Kusak (6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
 
Darby McCall earned at singles win at #6, downing Jodi Grosberg, 6-0, 6-1. Zickar closed out the win by defeating Kathryn Shaffer, 6-3, 6-2, at #5.
