No. 9 Bears Finish Third at Midwest Invitational

The No. 9-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team split two matches Saturday to finish in third place at the Midwest Invitational.

The Bears came up short in a 5-4 loss to No. 26 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the semifinal, before defeating Kenyon College 5-2 in the third-place match. Junior Rebecca Ho posted a 4-0 record on the day, including two wins over ranked opponents in the loss to UW-Whitewater.

• Sophomore Grace Deering's win at No. 3 singles vs. UW-Whitewater was her 70th career victory.

WashU is 10-6 overall after the two matches, while UW-Whitewater improved to 18-2 with its win over the Bears and Kenyon dropped to 8-9 with its loss.
