Peyton Young and Kendal Holladay’s Run to Round of 16 Leads Spartans at ITA Regionals

Junior Peyton Young and freshman Kendal Holladay advanced all the way to the round of 16 of the main singles draw to lead the Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team at the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Central Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Young claimed a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 win over Allison Bush of DePauw in the round of 32. However, Young fell 6-2, 6-2 to third-seeded Diana Aboubakare of Kenyon in the Round of 16.

Holladay defeated Claire Hollock of Hope in the round of 32, 7-6 (5), 6-2. However, Holladay lost 6-1, 6-3 to one-seeded Rebecca Ho of Washington (Mo.).

With two weekends of fall action in the books, Young in now 4-2 and Holladay is now 3-3 in singles action.

In doubles action, the duo of senior Kennedy Mulholland and freshman Lauren Beier were victorious, 8-6, in the round of 32 against Meaghan Flynn and Kelsey Kopf of St. Mary's. Fifth-seeded Madelyn Lee and Gretchen Wilder of DePauw defeated Mulholland and Beier in the round of 16, 8-5.

On the other side of the doubles bracket, senior Jennifer Lowe and freshman Katrin Gurvich upset sixth-seeded Emma Brezel and Sarah Hughes of Oberlin by a score 8-6 in the round of 32. In the round of 16, the duo ran into Meredith Breda and Alyssa Seneviratne of DePauw, who advanced to the quarters with a 9-8 (6) victory.
