The New York University women's tennis team completed competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships on Sunday, September 25, at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY.

In singles play, sophomores Alice McGinty and Flyora Shiyanova began the day with third-round victories over Skidmore College's Danielle Giannetti (7-5, 3-6, 6-3) and The College of New Jersey's Brittany Reedman (6-2, 6-2), respectively. However, in the quarterfinals, McGinty fell to The College of New Jersey's Sneha Rangu 6-4, 6-2, while Shiyanova was defeated by Skidmore's Michelle Fuca 6-4, 6-2.

"Both Alice and Flyora played tough matches," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy.

In doubles play, McGinty and freshman Rupa Ganesh, the lone NYU pair to make it to the second day of competition, fell to St. Lawrence University's Georgia Comber and Hallie Young 8-5 in the quarterfinals.

"Rupa has shown a lot of promise," added Choy.
