NYU Completes Play at TCNJ

The New York University women's tennis team completed play at the Lions' KIckoff Tournament hosted by The College of New Jersey on Saturday, September 10, in Ewing, NJ.

The Violets, playing without injured senior Laila El Dessouki, finished with a 1-8 record in singles play on Saturday and finished the weekend 2-12 overall.

"It was a tough weekend for us physically," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "Our players need to get healthy."

Sophomore Alice McGinty picked up the lone win for the Violets. The Barcelona, Spain, native defeated TCNJ's Sneha Rangu 2-6, 1-0, retired.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore Flyora Shiyanova and freshman Judy Kam each played competitive matches for the Violets. Shiyanova was defeated by Brittany Reedman 3-6, 6-3, 10-6, and Kam fell to Maddy Stoner 2-6, 6-3, 10-6.

"There were flashes of good play, but not enough to win," added Choy. "I expect them to improve."
