Maroons Send Four Singles and Three Doubles to ITA Regional Quarterfinals

Six members of the University of Chicago women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinal rounds at day two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Championships on Saturday.

In singles, UChicago had seven out of the 32 remaining players in the draw to start the day. All told, the Maroons went 8-3 on Saturday, playing 10 matches against seeded opponents.

Four Maroons earned a pair of victories to advance to the quarterfinals – junior No. 2-seed Ariana Iranpour, sophomore No. 6-seed Rachel Kim, freshman No. 9-seed Marjorie Antohi and freshman No. 9-seed Estefania Navarro. Antohi dropped only one game in two matches, winning 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, three of the four UChicago teams made the quarterfinals as well, totaling a 6-1 record. The remaining doubles teams include No. 2-seeds Kim/freshman Alyssa Rudin, No. 9-seeds Iranpour/senior Tiffany Chen and No. 9-seeds Antohi/Navarro.
