Bears Earn ITA All-Academic Honors

The Washington University in St. Louis men's and women's teams each received 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic accolades, as announced by the organization. In addition, the two programs had a combined 18 student-athletes receive ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.

WashU was one of six University Athletic Association (UAA) institutions to have both its men's and women's teams represented joining Brandeis University, Carnegie Mellon University, Case Western Reserve University, University of Chicago and University of Rochester. 

More than 4,200 scholar-athletes were recognized across all divisions, along with over 700 all-academic teams. In order to qualify for the All-Academic award, a team must hold a minimum GPA of 3.20.

The WashU men's team had eight student-athletes named to the 2016 ITA Scholar-Athlete team, while the women's team had 10 earn the honors. In order to qualify for ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, an individual must have had at least a 3.50 GPA during the 2015-16 academic year.

The men's team is represented by freshmen Radha Vishnubhotla, sophomores Jason Haugen, Jake Klein and Johnny Wu, juniors Collier Bouchillon and John Carswell, and seniors Josh Cogan and Tyler Kratky.

Freshmen Bridgette Hodge, sophomores Grace Deering, Kate Lee and Lily Schroeder, juniors Mindy Borovsky, Kaylan Griffith and Rebecca Ho, and seniors Aly Coran, Jamie Silverberg and Erin Wong received Scholar-Athlete honors for the WashU women.

The WashU men's team posted an 18-6 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 10th-straight season. The WashU women's team posted an overall record of 17-9 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the fourth time in school history.
