Rebecca Ho of Washington University Reaches Singles and Doubles Semifinals at ITA Oracle Cup

The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis advanced to the semifinals in both singles and doubles Thursday at the 2016 ITA Oracle Cup held at at Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club in Surprise, Ariz.

Senior Rebecca Ho, the No. 3 seed in singles, ousted Kathy Joseph of the University of Texas-Dallas 7-5, 6-4 in the opening round. Ho trailed Joseph 5-3 in the first set before reeling off four-straight games. She takes on No. 2 seed Bridget Harding of Emory University Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the semifinals. Harding won two of three meetings in 2015-16.

In doubles, Ho and senior Kaylan Griffith topped Hruska/Kim of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 7-5, 7-6 in its opening round match. The duo, who was seeded third, suffered a 6-3, 6-3 loss to No. 2 seed Barthelmas/Rao of Johns Hopkins University 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals late Thursday. Ho and Griffith take the court at 3 p.m. Friday against Humphreys/Kitchell of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the third-place match.

With the two victories Thursday, Ho upped her career win total to 149. She is one victory shy of becoming the third player in school history with 150 wins.

The ITA Oracle Cup is comprised of eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) for both singles and doubles from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges. The singles and doubles champions at each divisional level then compete to become the overall "Super Bowl" champions.
