Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis coach Kelly Stahlhuth was named the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Region Coach of the Year, as announced by the Association Friday.

Stahlhuth also earned the honor in 2015 en route to being named the National Coach of the Year.

"All the credit goes to the scholar-champion BEARS who study hard in the classroom and work hard on the tennis court to be the best they can be," Stahlhuth said. "This motivates me to bring together a group of scholar-athletes who want to be WashU Bears and who have a collective goal to move this program forward every day."

Stahlhuth guided WashU to a 13-8 overall record in 2017-18 and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She also mentored a pair of All-Americans in senior Grace Deering and freshman Ally Persky.

"We want to mentor and lead each player to maximize their potential as a player and a leader, so they can make a difference in their own lives and for those they meet and interact with on a daily basis," Stahlhuth added.

Stahlhuth has a 199-100 (.666) overall record in 13 seasons on the Danforth Campus, and guided WashU to 11-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, she has coached nine individuals to 12 All-America accolades.
