Camila Garcia of Rochester Posts Perfect Record On Day 1 of ITA's

Junior Camila Garcia went a perfect 4-0 to highlight day one of competition for the UR women's tennis team at the ITA Regional Championships at Skidmore College on Friday afternoon.
 
Garcia won two singles matches and moved on to the third round and also paired with sophomore teammate Sravya Gudipudi to win their first round and second round doubles matches.  Gudipudi was also a winner in the opening round of singles, but dropped her second round match.
 
Two other players, senior Alex Wolkoff and sophomore Abbey Reinhart lost in the opening round of both singles and doubles play.
 
In singles, Garcia won her first round match by a 6-1, 6-1 score over Nisha Rajamohan of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  In the next round, she won in three sets over Skidmore's Brianna Greene 3-6, 6-1, 10-7.  In the third round she will face the third seeded Anna Maria Buraya of New York University.
 
The doubles team of Garcia and Gudipudi were winners in the opening round over Charlotte Engebrecht and Olivia Engebrecht of William Smith by an 8-3 score.  In round two, the pair won 8-5 over TCNJ's Alyssa Baldi and Audrey Chen.  In the quarterfinals, UR's will face second seeded Ada Wiggins and Michelle Fuca of Skidmore.
 
Gudipudi's opening round singles match went in her favor 6-3, 6-2 over Julia Frattaroli of the University of Scranton.  She then fell in the next round to Flyora Shiyanova of NYU 6-4, 6-3 to bow out of the competition.
 
Wolkoff loster her opening round match 6-2, 6-0 to Frances Cornwall of Vassar College while Reinhart lost a tight three-set match in the first round to Union's Paige Webster, falling 7-5, 2-6, 12-10.  Both players then began playing in the ITA consolation bracket.
