From University of Chicago Athletics

University of Chicago's top-ranked women's tennis team cruised to a second-round victory over Grinnell College in the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships on Friday afternoon.

The Maroons, whom are playing host to the opening three rounds, blanked Grinnell in impressive fashion, 5-0, to advance to tomorrow's third round match versus Carleton. The winner will move on to the NCAA Team Championships in Orlando, Fla., which run May 14-16.

UChicago swept the doubles competition to open the matchup as both the No. 1 doubles tandem of Sylwia Mikos and Shianna Guo and the No. 3 doubles team of Nicole Geller and Lauren Khou won by identical 8-1 scores. The Maroons' No. 2 grouping of Claudia Ng and Perene Wang also cruised to victory, winning 8-3.

Ng made the match score 4-0 after an impressive 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. A short time later, Brooke Pedersen clinched the match for UChicago with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 slot. All four of the unfinished singles matches were led by Maroons as well.
