From University of Chicago Athletics

University of Chicago's top-ranked women's tennis program defeated fourth-ranked Middlebury College on Tuesday afternoon to advance to the 2023 Division III Women's Tennis Championship match.

The undefeated Maroons downed Middlebury 5-1 and will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a rematch of the 2022 title match at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday. Claudia Ng provided the clinching victory at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

In doubles, UChicago once again got victories from its second and third tandems to take a 2-1 advantage into singles play. The Maroons' depth shined through with victories from Nicole Geller at No. 3 and Brooke Pedersen at No. 4 before Ng finished off the result.

Geller defeated her opponent at No. 3 6-2, 6-1 while Pedersen dispatched her competition in straight sets as well, 6-1, 6-2.

Miranda Yuan, Shianna Guo and Sylwia Mikos had all split the first two sets before Ng clinched the match.

UChicago fell 5-1 in last year's final to CMS, but defeated the Athenas by an identical 5-1 score earlier this season at the ITA Indoor Championships. Links to live stats and video are available here along with on NCAA.com.
