Emory University junior Electra Korn was named the
Most Outstanding Performer for running events of the 2014
University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field
Championships, as announced by the conference on Thursday
morning.
Korn won two individual events and a relay at the UAA
Championships, hosted by the University of Chicago at the Ted
Haydon Track in Chicago, Illinois on April 26th and
27th. Korn claimed the UAA Championship in the
400-meter dash with a time of 56.97 seconds, and earned a victory
in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.76. The UAA
Titles were the first two individual outdoor conference titles of
her career.
Korn also ran the second leg on the Eagles' UAA Championship
4x100-meter relay team, which finished in a time off 47.99 seconds,
and scored in the 200-meter dash with a seventh-place finish, after
running a time of 25.57 seconds in the preliminaries.
It marks the 10th time that a member of the Emory
Women's Track and Field Team has earned the honor, and the
third-consecutive year. Korn joins former Eagle Brittany
Donino (2010) and junior Debora Adjibaba (2012 and 2013)
as Emory athletes who have won the award specifically for their
performance in running events.
