NYU Finishes Strong in North Carolina

From NYU Athletics

A contingent of New York University's women's track & field team finished competition on day two of the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, NC, on Saturday, March 26.

The Violets 4x800m relay team of senior Lydia Guo, sophomore Ireland Gibson, senior Sarah Sisk, and senior Becky Turlip placed 10th and first among Division III teams with a time of 9:19.43.

NYU returned to the track for the 4x200m relay when seniors Kristina Harris and Drew Washington and freshmen Danielle Murray and freshman Mary Conti posted a program-record time of 1:44.38 to place 21st. The previous record was set in 2013 and Harris and Washington were both part of that broken record.

The 4x400m relay had the Violets (Washington, Murray, Conti, and Sisk) finish in 3:59.83 to secure 20th.

"It was good to see them compete," said Head Coach Will Boylan-Pett. "For them to be where they are right now is a good start. Can't say enough about our runners in the 4x200m relay. The 4x800m relay team also ran really well today. We are going to look to build on today's performances."
