From NYU Athletics

A contingent of New York University's women's track & field team finished off its participation in the Sam Howell Invitational this Saturday, April 9, hosted by Princeton University in Lawrenceville, NJ.

To start the day, NYU's 4x100m team narrowly missed claiming first place, as they finished in 51.83. The foursome of senior Kristina Harris and freshmen Samantha Scoggins, Alyssa Jean and Mary Conti, finished just behind Division II Adelphi University (51.17).

Jean returned to secure fourth place in the 100m with a time of 13.38. Sophomore Harper Randolph (6th place) and freshman Chiome Nwana (7th place) rounded out the Violet sprinters with times of 13.75 (season best) and 14.68, respectively.

Junior Wendy He took eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:29.44. Following in 10th place was sophomore Megan Davis, who clocked a time of 2:44.82.

"Generally, today was more about getting some runs and experience in," said Assistant Coach Erison Hurtault. "We have UAA (University Athletic Association) Championships in a couple of weeks. We are just going through all the motions getting the exposure we need.

"We will get better conditions one of these days," continued Hurtault. "Today was just a tune-up. Alyssa ran a solid time, but we expect good times in the coming weeks."
