1,600-Meter Relay Leads Chicago at North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational

From University of Chicago Athletics

The University of Chicago track and field teams headed out to the suburbs in pursuit of more low times at the North Central College Dr. Keeler Invitational on Thursday and Friday.

The two-day meet did not feature team scores. With two weeks until NCAA Division III Outdoor Nationals, the track and field participants were looking to lower times and raise marks to qualify.

Overall, UChicago posted four finishes that placed in the top six. The women's 4x400-meter relay led the way by winning in a time of 3:53.54. The relay quartet included freshman Nicole VacaGuzman, senior Mikaela Hammel, freshman Emma Koether and junior Michelle Dobbs. Sophomore Megan Verner-Crist came within one second of winning the 1,500 meters, ultimately crossing the finish line second in 4:34.80. Dobbs ran individually as well and her 400-meter time of 2:11.24 was good for third place. In the women's high jump, sophomore Ade Ayoola was fifth with a height of 1.60 meters.
