Six Women's UAA Cross Country/Track and Field Student-Athletes Earn CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

Six women's UAA student-athletes were named to the 2016 Academic All-America® Division III Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Senior Julie Williamson of Emory University was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team for the second consecutive year, earning second team honors in 2016 after garnering third team recognition in 2015. Owning a 3.94 grade point average as a neuroscience and behavioral biology major, she qualified for both the indoor and outdoor national championship events this year in the 800-meter run. 

Junior Daisy Ogede and senior Ellen Toennies of Washington University each earned second team Academic All-America honors, while sophomore teammate Alison Lindsay was chosen on the third team.

Ogede, who carries a 3.67 grade point average majoring in biology (neuroscience), won the national championship in the 200-meter dash at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships and ran on the Bears' victorious 1,600-meter relay in the same meet.

Toennies earned a 3.77 grade point average in mechanical engineering and finished ninth at the 2015 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships to receive All-America honors.

Lindsay, who holds a perfect 4.00 grade point average with a double major in political science and French, placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in last month's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Junior Michelle Dobbs of University of Chicago was named to the Academic All-America second team. A computer science major with a 3.57 grade point average, Dobbs won the 800-meter run at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Kelsey Aamoth completed her Case Western Reserve University career with third team All-America honors. She earned her second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in the fall. Aamoth finisher her undergraduate studies with a 3.90 grade point average in biomedical engineering and holds a 4.00 grade point average as a graduate student.
